Meet Coach G

I’ve coached youth soccer for more than 20 years, and I still believe what got me started: the game can change young people’s lives, on and off the field.

Today I’m the head coach of the U13 Boys Premier and U13 Boys Challenge Red teams at South Carolina United FC (opens in a new tab) in Columbia, South Carolina.

My coaching goes beyond teaching skills. I want players who read the game and make smart decisions, who work hard for each other, and who carry the discipline and resilience they learn on the field into school, family and everything else they do.

What players can expect

• Clear explanations of the why, not just the what
• Sessions with purpose, built around how players improve
• High standards, delivered with respect and encouragement
• Honest communication with players and families

Building tools for coaches

Coaching multiple teams means juggling fields, kickoffs, tournaments and rest days. I built the Season Scheduler to manage my own teams, and now any coach can use it. Coaching notebooks are next.
